Family
Most days a mama of 3 kids and wife.
At 30 yrs old decided to not only go after my dreams but guide others to do the same in beauty + business.
Winter and fall beauty tips, from skin to hair care which may surprise you. They aren’t about the best mascara, or how to properly apply concealer, or even about the latest hair color or lipstick shade, they are about taking the best care of yourself to be your best most beautiful self.
1. Exfoliate
As the days become colder, dry skin is usually inevitable, but not preventable. Dryer skin makes your body work overtime to create more oil not only for your skin but your scalp as well. This can lead to clogged pores or oily hair. Exfoliation is the key to prevention.
Face- use a gentle exfoliation at home. I love using dermalogica daily micro-foliant once a week. For a splurge I do go to my esthetician once a month for a more in depth hydrating and exfoliating facial.
Lips- a gentle scrub of olive oil and coffee grounds every 2 to 3 weeks at home is my secret.
Don’t forget your Scalp – a scalp exfoliation brush is not only relaxing but ensures proper distribution of shampoo, and it stimulates blood flow to the scalp for healthy hair growth. Try it once a week.
2. Use SPF
Even on gloomy days, the sun is still there. Protecting your face and skin utilizing sunscreen during fall and winter months is essential to a good beauty routine. I love using Elta MD tinted SPF 46 which gives protection with a little bit of foundation coverage for those busy days.
When you’ve squeezed a little too much sunscreen don’t forget your neck and the front of your hands.
Love being outdoors? A hat is always a great way to get out the door without too much effort, to look fab, and to protect your face.
3. Hydrate
Don’t let your skin and hair turn crunchy and dry like the fall leaves.
Hair -The wind and cold from the fall and winter months can exacerbate your already sun damaged hair; weekly treatments are essential to bring back the shine and bounce. At home moisturizing treatments or a deep salon conditioning will do the trick. Daily leave-in conditioners help to hydrate your hair, reduce the frizz, and can help to create heatless waves which is a big morning time saver.
Skin – During Summer, when it’s hotter outside, it’s fairly easy to drink a lot of water. I notice it is harder during the winter to keep my water intake up. Finding creative ways to increase your fluids helps to keep your skin supple. For example, a relaxing tea before bed or during a hectic day is the perfect compliment to your beauty routine.
